Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that teaches a smaller person how to defend themselves against a larger adversary by using leverage and proper technique. The Gracie family, the founders of BJJ, modified judo and traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu to create the art.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. At Monroe Jiu Jitsu the class will consist of a warm up, stretching, take downs, self defense and jiu jitsu techniques. Students will have the opportunity to spar or continue to drill at the end of each class.
